What’s In a Name: Inside Voice

Hollywood Racing have had a lot to shout about in recent times, and it was simply written in the (purple) stars that their 100th winner of this season as owners would come at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth and that it would be from a horse called Inside Voice.

The filly was bred at Beaumont Stud and purchased at the 2024 BSA Cape Yearling Sale and was given her name by Hollywoodbets’ The Vegas Team. She was winning for trainer Vaughan Marshall and jockey Sean Veale in her third trip to the racecourse and justified 5-4 favouritism.

“You know when someone’s had a few drinks and starts to speak too loudly – especially as was the case at the Breeders Cup …” says Hollywood’s Devin Heffer, “that when it’s said, ‘hey, you’re inside, inside voice!’ ’. We’ve all come to experience it when the drinks have been flowing,” he adds with a laugh.

“Anyway, we thought it was a good name and it’s probably quite fitting that Inside Voice was our 100th winner of the season, and winner No 665 overall for Hollywood Racing, because there was plenty of celebrating and no shortage of bubbly!”

Hollywood Racing ended May with 104 winners for the season mark with two months to go. They are on target to enjoy a record season and the next target in their sights is the 117 winners which they achieved as owners in 2023/24.

Of those 104, there were 13 winners in the Western Cape: Asiye Phambili (2), Elizabedi Gold, Great Cat, Happy Wives, Indebe Mayibuye, Inside Voice, Jou Lekker Ding (2), King Of Spin, Lion Rampart, Luhamba Phambili and Ziyasha.
