Cape Racing affiliated syndicates largely had a successful month with a winner through the Woodruff Racing Syndicate plus a number of places which keeps the bank balance healthy. Let’s go further into the action.
ISCHYRO took the honours in race 4 at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on 28 April. It was a taking win considering he had the worst of the draws and he was dropped in to last by Oswald Noach. He has always hinted at being better at Hollywoodbets Durbanville but he has given himself an extra string to his bow by winning at HQ. He will always have a winning chance at Class 5 level. On the evidence of this win, a Class 4 might not be out of reach. The form of trainer Lucinda Woodruff in Cape Town and Durban must be applauded.

The first meeting of the month was on 14 April when HERITAGE RIDGE ran 3rd. She has been consistent and she is overdue her maiden victory. It will surely come sooner rather than later for the Turf Talk Syndicate.
Two days later, KLEIN KAROO confirmed his recent improvement by running 4th behind Green Planet. He has provided the owners’ a cheque in three of his four career starts under the Wolf Power Syndicate banner of Ricky Maingard, another yard in good form since the temperature cooled down. He should shed his maiden tag in due course. He could follow up quickly off a generous rating.
Four separate syndicate horses from four different syndicates hit the boards on 21 April. CAPTAINS ALLIANCE for the Social Squad ran 4th behind the hugely impressive Randolph Hearst. Second placed was Better Man who is held in high regard. TAKE IT AS RED also finished 4th for the fourth start in succession for the Turf Talk team. He is proving to be a Quartet punters’ good friend. SESAME ran her career best when she came 3rd behind Hunga Tonga. Improvement has been evident in every start and there is a good chance that she will be most effective over even further. She represents Woodhill Racing Syndicate. BENEATH THE CLOUDS nearly stole her maiden win under a shrewd ride from Gareth Wright for the
Ready Steady Go Syndicate of Michelle Rix. She has also steadily climbed up the ladder and her 2nd place will surely become a win imminently.
ISCHYRO was the poster boy on 28 April but there were two near misses from other syndicate representatives. BUGLE BOY for Genuine Ennion ran a ripper finishing 2nd behind Happy Verse. There was a report that horses in behind are of high quality so that bodes well for BUGLE BOY. IKO IKO put his last run behind him, which he needed badly, and finished an eye-catching 2nd, finding his feet late under Morne Winnaar. The Centenary Syndicate has had its fair share of good fortune lately and this result would have kept the fires burning.
