Syndicate Members Enjoy February

It has been a wonderful month for members within syndicates which has been a huge push from Cape Racing. Let’s take a look at who ran during the month and how they performed.

The Centenary Syndicate of Candice Bass-Robinson had their silks on the course in some important races with some exciting results. COUNTER ATTACK finished third behind his very talented stable companion, Empire State. From looking like an average maiden for a while he has become a steady earner surely with a win to come soon. FUN ZONE finished fourth in the Clapham Stakes at the start of February. She is always dangerous at her level. RED DAWN has suddenly become a horse to respect claiming his second victory in succession at the start of the month. SCARLET MACAW might have fluffed her lines in the Listed Schweppes Cape Fillies Classic on Cape Derby day but her summer has been a success. If connections were offered running second in the Grade 1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas before the festival of summer started, they’d have taken it willingly. She did not reach 1800m in the Classic but she has class and she will win her races. The most exciting horse is the two-year-old FOLLOW YOUR HEART. He put up a sparkling debut behind Spacebound and this flashy son of Master Of My Fate will surely kick on and go close when he is next on course.

BENEATH THE CLOUDS is a winner in waiting for the Ready Steady Go Syndicate of Michelle Rix and Harold Crawford. She has been steadily improving and at her fourth career start, she ran her best race to date behind Happy Wives. She has appealing formlines and the way she has strengthened and matured has been warming. Keep an eye out for her and her flashy silks.

BENEATH THE CLOUDS

SWEETSUMMERLOVE is working closer to the winners’ box with every start. She is trained by Brett and James Crawford. Her last start produced a close-up fifth behind Bright Gold. At least she is trending in the right direction.

Equine millionaire for the Social Squad BEREAVE had his swansong in the Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes, a race he triumphed in previously. He was the poster boy for syndicate success for a while and he will commence duties as a lead horse at Adam Marcus’ Milnerton-based yard. CAPTAINS ALLIANCE is an exciting horse for members of the Social Squad. He might not have earned on debut but his performance was one to pick out for the future behind Dreamworld who might have been one of the most impressive two-year-old performances in the country thus far. He should step forward with the run and be a lively hope next time he runs. HAMPSTEAD HEATH is better than her last run and she surely has a few more wins in the tank. She has always given the impression that she is a late maturer.

The Hangover Syndicate had representation from WHAT A FORTUNE who had no luck from a deep draw in the Summer Country Championship final. He will surely be back and competitive during winter. He is better than a one-time winner. STU’S GIRL is an overdue maiden but she earned again by finishing fourth in the middle of the month. She will have her day.

Turf Talk Syndicate has two horses who should be winners’ box-bound very soon. HERITAGE RIDGE is overdue her first success but she finally did most correctly last time when finishing second behind Flying Finley. TAKE IT AS RED is by Hawwaam and she is now banging at the door. She has earned in all three career starts behind some talented and exciting youngsters. Her day must be soon.

The Jazz Syndicate sent out DIXIELAND BAND who might not have seen the trip in the Clapham Stakes. She is worth keeping faith in because she is a lot better than what that race showed.

UN BEL DI was a fluent winner of the Summer Championship Final over 1200m earning R118 750 in the process. He beat Bluff On Bluff who franked the form just a few weeks later. UN BEL DI is a talented sprinter for LÓrmarins & Friends and now that he is over his breathing issues, he should claim more races. He could even be a horse who sneaks into feature race levels.

UN BEL DI

GNARLY could be well setup next time he runs off his rating of 76 for the One World Syndicate. He showed signs of life at the start of February finishing fifth behind Red Dawn. He has been rumoured to be better than his form and he could start to put it together during winter.

For the Wolf Power Syndicate, KLEIN KAROO looks set to get the job done. His most recent start provided running fourth at only his third career appearance. Ricky Maingard is never in a rush with his horses especially the younger individuals who need time. He should be worth following when he next runs.

SESAME showed marked improvement when last seen to go from 20 lengths behind the winner to 4,4 lengths behind the winner. She is under the expert guidance of Glen Kotzen and his Woodhill Racing Syndicate. She might be a few runs away from winning but continued steady improvement is expected and she should start earning soon.

ISCHYRO ran a blinder for the Woodruff Racing Syndicate on 26 February when third behind Arbitration. She is best at Hollywoodbets Durbanville and with most of the racing being at the country course in March, her next winning turn must be close. Lucinda Woodruff has her yard in good heart at the moment.
