Stats Tell April’s Story

It was a truncated April, with four race meetings held at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. However, despite the limited action, there was a lot of quality on display in a month that we also saw two juveniles win against older horses.

Headline-grabber of the month was Andrew Fortune, who had his first winners in the region this season – and in fact the first since he regained his jockey’s licence. The charismatic veteran booted home eight winners, the most of all riders, and started his hot streak aboard Match That on the 16th. He rode in three meetings and had three winners, three winners and two winners, respectively.

Three of Fortune’s eight winners came for trainer Candice-Bass Robinson who topped the list of winners sent out from a stable for the second time in the last three months. She signed off the month with nine winners, one ahead of Justin Snaith. The race for most winners in the owners and breeders ranks was also close, as was that among the sires where Vercingetorix pipped Gimmethegreenlight.
