Marsh Shirtliff is the nominee for Greenacres Trust and is certainly no stranger to the winners’ podium. The month of March found him in just that spot.
His recent triumphs, highlighted by CONTINENTALEXPRESS’s victory under Dean Kannemeyer’s training, illustrated the ongoing success of a seasoned figure in the industry. Earlier this month he achieved a double with LADY LOXTON, trained by Brett Crawford, and HELIOTROPE, under the guidance of trainer Candice Bass Robinson.
Marsh has interests in the breeding industry and stands his mares with David Hepburn-Brown at the picturesque Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud.
The Greenacres Trust influence isn’t confined to the borders of South Africa. Marsh enjoys racing horses in Singapore and more recently he sent KATAK over for an international campaign. KATAK has since retired and lives in Australia with Piet Steyn’s daughter, Margot Sims.
Marsh has always been associated with high-performing horses, reflecting not only his keen eye for talent, but also his commitment to excellence in the competitive arena of horse racing.
We thought it appropriate to take a trip down memory lane acknowledging his historic run with some famous horses, bringing us to the remarkable journey with POCKET POWER, a horse that became a legend in his own right. POCKET POWER, known as the “people’s champion,” captured the hearts of racing fans with his incredible prowess on the track. The synergy between POCKET POWER and Marsh is a testament to the profound bonds that can form between owners and their horses.
Adding to this legacy is RIVER JETEZ, POCKET POWER’s half-sister, who also made significant waves in the racing scene. The success of RIVER JETEZ under Marsh’s ownership further cements his status as a professional in horse racing, and we appreciate his ability to recognize great horses!
